Kilmar Abrego Garcia, the Salvadoran national who was mistakenly deported by U.S. authorities more than two months ago, is now on his way back to the United States — but not as a free man. According to ABC News, Abrego Garcia, 29, will face federal criminal charges upon his return.

A recently unsealed, two-count indictment filed in a federal court in Tennessee alleges he played a central role in a sprawling, years-long human smuggling operation that transported undocumented migrants — including children and alleged gang members — from the U.S.-Mexico border into the interior of the United States.
