GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Kent County has dozens of cameras that can scan license plates across the county. About 25 of them were installed in 2022 by Flock Safety for the Kent County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) to use for criminal investigations.

Other ALPR systems have been used by the Grand Rapids Police Department (GRPD) since 2013.

The ALPR cameras are scattered throughout the county at heavily trafficked areas. You can usually spot the cameras installed near intersections, often times below a solar panel.
