I'll admit it: I've never really been into birding. I respect the hobby, but I've had more encounters in which birds and I did not get along than when we did, from the geese that chased me down at the park one time to the bird that took nose dives at me for weeks after building a nest on my front porch.
Of course, having a child will change your view on just about everything in life. Now that I have a toddler, I'm learning to see things through her eyes, which made me way more interested in birds. We go on walks identifying the different birds we see, wave to the ones that land near us in the yard, and leave a few mulberries on the ground for easy pickings for our feath
