Kilmar Abrego Garcia, the Maryland man mistakenly deported to El Salvador by the Trump administration, is on the way back to the United States to face criminal charges, his lawyer confirmed to News4.

A federal grand jury indicted Abrego Garcia on two counts of conspiracy to unlawfully transport illegal aliens for financial gains and the unlawful transportation of illegal aliens for financial gains, according to a copy of the indictment.

"The government disappeared Kilmar to a foreign prison in violation of a court order. Now, after months of delay and secrecy, they're bringing him back, not to correct their error but to prosecute him," Abrego Garcia's attorney Simon Sandoval-Moshenberg said in a statement.
