(WSAZ) - Late this Friday afternoon, the tropically hot and humid air we are stewing in is producing showers and thunderstorms. While an ill-timed thundershower can frequent any community for a half hour this evening, the risk of severe weather in the form of high winds is mainly in far Southeastern Kentucky. There, a severe thunderstorm watch was issued, but only until 7pm. My suggestion is for festival and concert officials to wait out any rumble.

Of more concern are the overnight periods into Saturday and Sunday mornings when slow-moving thunderstorms may trigger flash flood alerts. These periods are notorious for high water when the winds at 5,000 feet pick up like they are expected both nights.
