CROWN HEIGHTS — Students from Launch Expeditionary Learning Charter School marched in orange shirts through Crown Heights on Thursday, rallying at Restoration Plaza to combat gun violence ahead of National Gun Violence Awareness Day, according to PIX News .

Students chanted “Show me what democracy looks like!,” shared personal stories and performed for the crowd. One seventh-grader, Nevaeh, recited a poem inspired by losing family to shootings.

While Brooklyn in 2024 saw record-low gun violence, students rallied to continue the fight.
