LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Resorts World is trying to keep it positive, posting a photo of headliner Janet Jackson with the Las Vegas Aces on social media this week. But it's been a rough start to 2025 at the luxury hotel on the north end of the Las Vegas Strip.
The resort's parent company, Malaysia-based Genting Berhad, released its first-quarter earnings report a week ago, and it showed business was down at the company's U.S. resorts.
Resorts World also agreed to a $10.5 million fine, the second-largest ever assessed against a Nevada casino company, in an investigation into "unsuitable methods of operation" relating to anti-money laundering standards connected with illegal bookmakers gambling at the property. At about the same time, Resorts World announced it was laying off nearly 50 employees
