A murder investigation is underway after a woman found her daughter shot to death inside a car at a Long Island apartment complex.
Homicide detectives responded to the Tall Oaks apartments in Moriches, located off Moriches-Middle Island Road, at around 8:20 a.m. Friday, June 6, for a victim dead from a gunshot wound, Suffolk County Police said.
A woman called 911 saying she had found her daughter, 33-year-old Rebecca Roth, dead from a gunshot wound in a car in the parking lot outside their residence, police said. Roth was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities did not speculate on a possible motive for the killing, and no suspects had been arrested as of Friday afternoon.
