TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - The University of North Carolina crushed the University of Arizona 18-2 in the first game of the Chapel Hill Super Regional on Friday, June 6.
The teams will play the second game on Saturday. First pitch is set for 9 a.m., and the game will be on ESPN2.
If the Tar Heels win Saturday, they advance to the College World Series, and the Wildcats’ season ends. If Arizona takes the second game, the teams will play a do-or-die game on Sunday.
On Friday, UNC scored five runs twice -- in the first and eighth innings. They added three runs in the second and two runs in the fourth and sixth innings.
UNC first baseman Hunter Stokely went 3-for-4 with five RBIs, and catcher Luke Stevenson went 2-for-5 with four RBIs.
Arizona catcher Adonys Guzman went 4-for-4 with an RBI,
