WAYNESBORO, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Embroiled in a yearslong budget battle with county commissioners, Burke County Sheriff Alfonzo Williams now wants to arrest them.

He’s tried meeting with them, asking the governor for help and taking them to court twice.

Now he’s calling their actions criminal.

He even wrote up an incident report outlining alleged offenses, including:

Violation of oath by a public officer.

Malpractice, misfeasance or malfeasance in office by a public official.

Obstructing law enforcement officers.

At the center of the battle is Williams’ budget, which he says commissioners are trying to exert too much control over, while they say he needs to spend within his means. He says as an elected official, the budget is his to control.
