GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - An 8-week-old poodle in Gainesville is on its way to making a recovery after being left in a Publix parking lot.

Gainesville Police Department is still searching for the suspect, who abandoned the poodle on Tuesday .

“Were gonna have to keep seeing how his medical condition progresses,” said Julie Johnson, director for Alachua County Animal Resources.

“We are still very much in the early phase with this puppy because again not even 48 hours ago we weren’t sure this puppy was going to make it. So, it really is step by step with these little ones, they need a lot of attention and care,” she said.

GPD officials are urging anyone with information regarding this incident to call 352-955-1818.
