Celebrities, community members and even an NAACP conference are coming to the defense of a California track star who was stripped of her state title over the weekend in the 400-meter race after a post-race celebration involving a fire extinguisher.

After winning the 400-meter event with a time of 53.24 seconds, Clara Adams celebrated by grabbing a fire extinguisher from her father, the coach, to "extinguish" her spikes.

Civil rights attorney Adante Pointer of Oakland says his firm is exploring every legal option to ensure that the CIF reinstates 16-year-old North Salinas High School runner Clara Adams' gold medal.

Pointer, along with officials from the California-Hawaii State Conference NAACP, held a media conference at 11 a.m. at the library of North Salinas High School.
