LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Widespread media attention has been a sticking point in Nelson County Judge Charles Simms’ decisions about how the trials in the Crystal Rogers case will be made public.

Now, he has decided he will keep trial records sealed until both trials are complete. The second trial in the case is scheduled for the end of June.

Simms said he is particularly concerned about Bowling Green media airing or posting the trial videos, which could taint the jury pool.

The judge wrote, “with the jury pool having access to the trial videos, it is highly likely that many prospective jurors will form an opinion as to how the cases against Houck and J. Lawson should be decided.”
