KINGSPORT, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Kingsport Public Library celebrated its temporary relocation to the Fort Henry Mall on Friday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The library is temporarily relocated to the mall while renovations are underway at the actual library in downtown Kingsport. Renovations are expected to last 14-18 months, after which the library will return to its permanent home.
On Friday, library staff cut the ribbon on the mall location to welcome families in.
"We're seeing families we've never seen before," Kingsport Assistant City Manager Michael Borders said. "So, it's bringing people out. Obviously, there's some newer development that's occurring at the mall, as well as developments on the horizon, and so we hope to continue to be a draw and just really build on the momentum
