WASHINGTON (TNND) — Democratic leaders in Congress reacted this week to Sen. Joni Ernst’s, R-Iowa, response to a town hall attendee’s question.

Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., of the House of Representatives and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., posted on social media platform X videos of their respective responses to Sen. Ernst’s remark. She told the attendee, who shouted during last week's town hall that people will die as a result of proposed Medicaid funding cuts, that “we all are going to die.”

Leader Jeffries said in a Wednesday press conference, which he posted a clip of, that “Republican cruelty” shouldn’t be the cause of death for anyone.
