LEE COUNTY, Ala. (WTVM) - Registration is now open for the upcoming R.A.D. self-defense class in Smiths Station.
The 12-hour course, hosted by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, is scheduled for July 15, 17, 22, and 24 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. CST each day. All sessions will be held at Smiths Station Junior High School.
The Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) System is a women-only program that teaches realistic self-defense tactics and techniques. The course begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction, and risk avoidance strategies and progresses to hands-on defense training.
The class is open to women ages 13 and up. Attendance at all four sessions is required to take part in the final simulation for safety reasons.
