MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - A trial was taken off the calendar for a Rock County man accused of killing his 8-year-old family member, online court records show Friday.
Dayveon Lathrop appeared in Rock County court, where his attorney requested another competency hearing.
A competency hearing was scheduled for July 15.
Lathrop’s trial was originally scheduled to begin on July 28.
Lathrop is accused of first-degree intentional homicide and hiding a corpse.
If convicted, he faces a mandatory minimum of life in prison on the homicide charge.
The 8-year-old girl’s body was found March 10, 2024, in a plastic tote in the laundry room. A medical examiner determined she was stabbed to death.
Authorities arrested Lathrop in March 2024 and he pleaded not guilty that June.
