AUSTIN, Texas — Fire crews with the Austin Fire Department (AFD) responded to a fire in northeast Austin Friday.

According to AFD, crews received a call at around 1:30 p.m. reporting a fire at Red Rock Recycling at 9807 Brown Lane.

The fire stemmed from cardboard bails and plastic that ignited outside the building.

AFD said it had nine engines, two rescues, two ladder trucks and two battalion chiefs on-scene to fight the fire.

No employees of the business were hurt, although one firefighter was treated and transferred to the hospital with a heat-related injury. AFD said some employees assisted by separating bails using forklifts.

AFD also said there were some issues with water supply, as hydrants were located somewhat far away and one hydrant had low pressure.
