(Gray News) - Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who was mistakenly deported to an El Salvadoran prison, is on his way back to face human trafficking charges, according to reports.

Abrego Garcia has been charged in the United States for allegedly transporting undocumented migrants within the country.

The Justice Department is expected to announce the charges Friday.

According to ABC News , the two-count indictment alleges the 29-year-old Salvadoran native was part of a nearly decade-long conspiracy to move undocumented migrants from Texas to other parts of the country. Among those transported were members of the criminal gang MS-13, sources said.
