A juvenile driver was seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision on state Route 56 near Cedar City on Friday morning.

Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Clay Allred said the incident happened at approximately 7:30 a.m. and involved a Ford Focus and a Nissan Armada.

Allred said the driver of the Ford Focus was stopped at the intersection of 200 South and SR-56 (near 6300 West) when he attempted to make a left turn onto eastbound SR-56 and was struck by the westbound Nissan.

The driver of the Ford Focus, whom Allred described as being under 18 years old, sustained a head injury and was treated by Gold Cross Ambulance personnel at the scene. He was later transported via Intermountain Life Flight helicopter to St. George Regional Hospital.
