A Monroe man has been charged in a federal criminal complaint after authorities said Friday he called in a bomb threat to Detroit Metro Airport Thursday morning after he missed his flight.

John Carles Robinson, 23, has been arrested in connection with a bomb threat called into Detroit Metro Airport about Spirit Airlines Flight 2145, which was scheduled to depart for Los Angeles, the U.S. Attorney's Office Eastern District of Michigan said in a press release.

Robinson had booked a seat on Flight 2145, but arrived at the airport too late and was told at the gate that he needed to rebook his flight, authorities said.

Then, around 6:25 a.m., Robinson allegedly made a call from a mobile phone to Spirit Airlines, not to reschedule his flight but to report a bogus bomb threat.
