HARTFORD, Conn. (WFSB) - A program that helps hundreds of at-risk young people in Connecticut is scheduled to be shut down by the Trump administration soon.
This could leave students in the program without homes or career opportunities.
The Trump administration says that it will pause Job Corps programs across the country, including both centers in Connecticut.
It’s the battle to save the Job Corps centers in Hartford and New Haven.
The federally funded program offers housing and career training and assistance to about 350 people in Connecticut between the ages of 16 and 24 right now.
Students get free housing and food while they get their high school diplomas or GEDs. They then go on to get a degree in a skills trade.
Eventually, they get a full-time job and career.
“It teaches the
