AKRON, Ohio — Senior shine, senior showcase. For the eight players on Springfield High School's softball team who were a part of the 2022 state experience, Friday afternoon provided a full-circle moment.

The Blue Devils advanced to this year's OHSAA state tournament for the fourth time in program history. Last appearance ended with a state runner-up finish, an achievement that motivated this class of 2025.

Prior to the Division-III state semifinal, head coach Rob Gwozdz brought his senior class to home plate for the pregame exchange of lineups. A memory that rewarded the work and dedication the eight leaders have showcased throughout their careers.
