WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WISH) — The Purdue University Board of Trustees in a Friday meeting endorsed a plan for development its downtown Indianapolis campus.

Purdue 50-year plan includes the construction of 16 new buildings on 28 acres, totaling 4.5 million gross square feet. The goal is transform the urban expansion to support up to 15,000 students. A trifold issued from the university outlines the plan.

In April, the first project, the $187 million Academic Success Building, broke ground. It’ll include 15 floors with nearly 500 beds for students, a dining court that can fit roughly 400 people, and new classrooms and lab spaces. Construction was scheduled finish by May 2027.
