On the biggest stage of her high school soccer career, Loveland Classical junior Abby Ruppert delivered, twice.

Her two goals in the first six minutes of the Class 2A state championship game on May 21 at Switchbacks Weidner Field in Colorado Springs were more than enough to put the finishing touches on an historic season for the Lions, who defeated Flatirons Academy that evening to win the first state title in school history in any sport.

It shouldn’t have come as a surprise, though. Ruppert has been scoring goals and coming up big in clutch moments since she was a freshman. With the last two goals of her junior season coming in the championship game, she had a total of 26 on the season to go along with 12 assists.

Her 26 goals were the 16th-most in the state while her 64 points were 19
