BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Six new Baton Rouge Police Officers took an oath to protect and serve Friday morning as the department deals with 150 openings.
The 93rd academy started with 13 individuals, and 22 weeks of training later, they were left with six.
“It’s a great milestone for me,” A’Neseya Dunn said. “It’s not the end of it but the start of our journey in this career.... took blood, sweat, and tears to get here but I’m excited to start my first phase.”
Dunn credits teamwork and the guidance of the staff for helping them reach the finish line.
The 93rd Academy Graduation comes at a time when law enforcement nationwide is facing staffing shortages. According to data publicly available from the International Association of Chiefs of Police, nearly 91 percent of law enforcement age
