JACKSONVILLE, Texas (KETK) - After leading Overton to the state championship earlier this week, their head coach has decided to end his tenure with the Mustangs and take over the Jacksonville baseball program.

Jacksonville ISD Athletic Director Montey Stevenson announced on Friday morning that coach Chris Cook will be joining the Jacksonville Athletic Department and will assume the role of head baseball coach. The announcement came just a day after Cook led Overton to the 2A Division 2 state championship game where they were defeated by Collinsville.

Cook will be leaving Overton after taking the program to new highs over the past two seasons. He finished his tenure at Overton with a 26-25 record overall and led the Mustangs to their first state championship
