WACO, Texas (KWTX) - Carlton Dotson, the former Baylor University basketball player whose shooting death of teammate Patrick Dennehy in 2003 incited one of the darkest episodes in school history, is back in Waco after being released on parole.
Dotson, 43, served about 19 years of a 35-year prison term after pleading guilty to murder and was released on parole to McLennan County on Nov. 19, 2024, according to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
Efforts by KWTX to reach Dotson through the Waco parole office and his uncle in North Carolina have been unsuccessful. His uncle, Alvin Dotson, said his nephew had no interest in accepting a KWTX interview request, and neither Alvin Dotson nor parole officials would provide contact information for Carlton Dotson.
