Madison, Wis. — Dane County is moving towards correcting the Department of Human Services loopholes used to improperly give contracts, but some supervisors are claiming nothing wrong was done and are letting Human Services write its own rules.
At Thursday's Health & Human Needs committee meeting, two proposals to change county ordinance 25.50 dealing with human services contracts were presented, with very different processes and language.
Issues with the contracts came to light after a Channel 3000 report showed the county used a loophole to pass two 2024 contracts of $397,246 and $276,857 to Urban Triage for rapid rehousing and housing navigation, without a vote of the full county board.
