MADISON, Wis. -- This is the first year that the American Family Insurance Championship has been held at the brand-new TPC Wisconsin, but judging by the first round scores you'd think many of Friday's competitors were seasoned veterans of the course.

Thomas Bjørn and Darren Clarke shot a combined 14 birdies and carded a stellar 59 to lead the field. Clarke birdied six of the first nine holes, including four consecutive birdies on holes 4-7. Bjørn ended the round with four consecutive birdies on holes 15-18.

That dominant performance puts Bjørn and Clarke two shots in the lead ahead of Richard Green and Mark Hensby, who carded a strong 61 on the day. Thongchai Jaidee and Brendan Jones finished the day in third with a 62, with Jaidee scoring an eagle on the second hole he played.
