AUSTIN, Texas — Hamilton Pool will remain closed to visitors for at least one more week.

Travis County Park officials said recent rain in the area caused a high level of bacteria to form in the preserve.

Park officials say the earliest the pool can reopen to swimmers in June 13, and when it does reopen, only a limited portion of the pool will be accessible due to an ongoing problem with falling rocks.

Hiking is still allowed at the preserve, and reservations are still required to enter. However, a section of trail that goes underneath the overhanging cliff at the pool is closed due to safety concerns.
