COTTAGE GROVE (WKOW) -- Dane County Executive Melissa Agard kicked off the "25 for 25" Dane County Parks Challenge Friday.
The yearlong initiative aims to highlight recreational opportunities across the county's parks.
Agard says she is planning to visit all 25 parks this year to promote outdoor access, stewardship, and community connection.
She said, "You find trails and rivers and playgrounds and the kind of spaces that bring us all together in a time when the world is a little upside down, we need to find joy and a reason to come together."
Friday's kick off event at McCarthy County Park starts the challenge.
Agard was joined by park staff, environmental advocates, and local elected officials.
She is challenging residents to join her in completing the challenge.
