Movie Review: Ana de Armas is better at killing than ballet in ‘Ballerina,’ a John Wick spinoff

There are so many killings per minute in a John Wick movie, you can easily believe most everyone's an assassin. And that's actually the case in “Ballerina,” a spinoff starring a game and energetic Ana de Armas, which ends up in a picturesque Austrian town where everyone IS an assassin, even the kids. The early scenes in this climactic sequence are clever and even contain a glimmer of humor, writes Associated Press critic Jocelyn Noveck. That's a welcome addition to a Wick movie, but eventually, the body count becomes a numbing experience. Ian McShane and Anjelica Huston return, and Gabriel Byrne is a chilly new villain. Opens Friday in theaters.
