MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) - Door-to-door transit services in Minot will continue through the end of the year.

The city’s contract with Souris Basin Transportation was supposed to expire next month, but the city council approved an extension.

Still, some council members have big questions about the future of the system.

Since Minot was designated as an urban community this year, the city now receives direct federal funds through urban grants for public transit.

This means they can no longer apply for rural funding, which led to a major shift in budget for fixed route services provided by the Souris Basin Transportation (SBT).

The council approved $300,000 from cash reserves to continue door-to-door transportation.
