WASHINGTON — WorldPride celebrations are officially underway across D.C., but a park’s closure in Dupont Circle neighborhood has some in the LGBTQ+ community upset .

Fencing is now in place around Dupont Circle Park and will remain in place until 6 p.m. Sunday, according to the National Park Service.

"It’s really hard to believe," said Caleb Lederer, who lives in the neighborhood. "It’s frustrating, it’s a point of community. Taunting it, unable to be used for such an important celebration in D.C. I literally spend every day here in this park and get to know the people who also spend every day in this park, and you see the same faces. It’s really just a blow to the community."
