GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Is it time for a checkup? A Centers for Disease Control and Prevention study found that men are 33% less likely to visit the doctor than women.
"There is some variability from men and women, and we do try to avoid just overgeneralization, but to that point, we all have a fear of getting a bad diagnosis, fear of hearing things that maybe we don't want to hear, like 'we need to maybe lose weight' or 'we need to exercise more' or 'we need to quit smoking' or things like that. Those are a lot of the primary drivers," Dr. David Rzeuzuto, vice president of Medical and Clinical Operations at Priority Health, said.
Rzeuzuto explained that other factors, like wait time for an appointment or other non-medical reasons, can deter people from going to the doctor.
