WEST WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — The West Warwick Police Department is now home to a senior dog with a heart of gold.
Mouse, affectionately called "Mousey," was first brought to the West Warwick Animal Shelter back in February after a resident found her abandoned in town.
"She was extremely emaciated and malnourished," West Warwick Animal Control Officer Elsie Curtis wrote in a social media post. "She couldn't digest anything and would vomit everything she ingested. She never wanted to go outside or leave her comfy bed — she'd even use the bathroom on it to avoid getting up."
Mouse's condition slowly improved over time as she gained weight and began warming up to shelter staff.
