The National Weather Service in Nashville has issued a tornado watch for nine Middle Tennessee counties, including Montgomery, Robertson and Cheatham, as severe weather brings a threat of strong storms to the area.
The weather service's tornado watch also includes Dickson, Hickman, Houston, Humphreys, Perry and Stewart Counties and will last until 8 p.m.
Weather service meteorologist Caleb Cravens said the strongest storms are expected to stay west of Davidson, Sumner, Williamson and Maury Counties.
The system developing across Middle Tennessee could produce lightning and heavy downpours, the weather service said.
"When you hear thunder road, go indoors," the weather service said on social media .
