AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The City of Amarillo runoff election has had very few early voter participants this go around.
The City of Amarillo runoff election between David Prescott and Tom Scherlen has had roughly 6,000 early voters from Potter and Randall County combined.
Early voting participation was low as Potter County had almost 1,900 fewer voters than Randall County.
By comparison, turnout was higher in 2023’s city runoff, when there were two races. This year, only one spot is up for grabs.
Timing also plays a part in the decline, the County Board of Elections say this time of year voters are on vacation or involved with other activities.
