NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - A Charleston County jury found a man guilty of the 2022 murder of a North Charleston motel owner.

Darnell Brown was found guilty of murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime in the shooting death of Jagdishbhai Patel on June 25, 2022, at the Charleston Heights Motel.

Brown will serve life without parole while also serving a five-year sentence because of a prior violent crime conviction of armed robbery.

Patel died a couple of weeks after being shot twice in the head through a glass barrier in the front office of the motel he owned and ran with his wife.

Det. Denis Woods led the investigation .
