‘The Office’ Spinoff Star Makes Bold Comment About Steve Carell

Actor Domhnall Gleeson , 42, is opening up about starring in the upcoming Office spinoff, titled The Paper .

While speaking to People magazine for a June 5 interview, Gleeson said that his character, Ned, who works at a failing local newspaper, is not like Steve Carell 's iconic Office character, Michael Scott.

"I don't think my characters like Michael Scott at alI," said Gleeson during the interview.

He said he believed it wouldn't be in his best interest if he mirrored Carell's performance as Michael. In addition, he said he wasn't going to mimic how Ricky Gervais played problematic manager David Brent, in the original Office series, which ran from 2001 to 2003.
