(NewsNation) — The manhunt for a former police chief convicted of murder and rape has entered a 12th day, with Border Patrol now called on to help.
Specifically, the Border Patrol Tactical Unit, a special operations tactical unit of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, has agents from the Rio Grande Valley being redeployed and assigned to the search.
Hardin, dubbed the "Devil in the Ozarks," escaped from the Arkansas North Central Unit in Calico Rock on May 25.
U.S. Customs of Border Protection declined to comment to NewsNation on the extent of BORTAC’s involvement in the Arkansas search operation.
Hardin, 56, was wearing a corrections uniform at the time of his escape.
The FBI has offered a $20,000 reward for information leading to the capture of the 56-year-old. On top of that, the U
