SOUTHERN TIER, N.Y. (WENY) — Friday was a day full of community service across the Southern Tier as part of the United Way of the Southern Tier (UWST) annual "Day of Action." The annual event brought together nearly 450 volunteers to support local non-profits.

"This is great. It's amazing, everything that AIM does as a whole, and to have people volunteering to help us continue our mission and continuing to help our community and help people," said Shannon Aldrich, who works for AIM Independent Living Center in Corning. "This is awesome to have these volunteers out here."

Volunteers worked to gut the interior of a warehouse in Elmira, which will be used for future programming for the AIM Independent Living Center. Aldrich said he's grateful for the volunteers who came out to help.
