NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WFSB) - New Haven is seeing a spike in overdoses.
The overdoses have been spread out across the city.
There have been 19 overdoses in the city from Sunday through Tuesday morning. One of those overdoses was fatal, according to the city’s health department.
The city, first responders and harm reduction advocates are rushing to not only investigate but also save lives.
John Waters, a New Haven resident, recalls seeing the recent overdoses downtown.
“Just people passing out, but they put fentanyl in everything,” said John Waters, New Haven.
Due to the recent uptick in overdoses, the health department issued a level 2 response for an increased risk.
This is triggered when there are between 11-24 overdoses in a 24 hour period.
