SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) --The Oldham-Ramona-Rutland (ORR) School Board is facing a lawsuit amid ongoing discussions around dissolving the district entirely.

The lawsuit comes from a group of area landowners within the ORR School District that allege that the ORR School Board didn’t hold public hearings before deciding on $14.7 million in capital outlay certificates that would be used to build a new school. Recent school board meetings in March and April turned heated.

The situation started in 2022 when Oldham-Ramona consolidated with Rutland. The district is now working to build a new school. The school board previously approved a bond for a $20 million school to be built in Ramona.
