KENNEWICK, Wash. – Kennewick Police Department, in collaboration with Child Protective Services, has arrested 28-year-old Deven Cooper on child abuse charges.

The infant was initially brought to a local hospital on June 3, 2025 where a bone fracture was discovered. Further evaluation in Spokane revealed additional fractures, suggesting non-accidental trauma.

KPD detectives, working with Child Protective Services (CPS) and the City of Spokane Police Department, determined that the infant's injuries were allegedly caused by the biological father, 28-year-old Deven Cooper. Cooper was arrested on June 5, 2025, and booked into Benton County Jail for second-degree assault of a child.

Child Protective Services (CPS) intervened, placing the infant and another juvenile into protective custody.
