NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WPRI) — Volt hockey is not your average sport.

It's actually a fast-paced parasport designed for those with physical disabilities. Volt hockey is basically floor hockey, except the players zip around in adaptive power chairs that are equipped with paddles affixed to them.

Helena Liedtike, president and founder of Space2Thrive, launched the Rolling Warriors volt hockey team last year.

"It allows people with disabilities to play a sport independently," Liedtike explained. "It's a power chair and the stick is attached to the chair ... so they don't have to hold anything. They just go right in and play this amazing sport."
