JACKSON COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A man is in custody Friday after investigators said he severely beat his pregnant girlfriend in rural Jackson County and left her for what he thought was dead.
The suspect, 21, is due to be arraigned soon in Jackson County Magistrate Court, Sheriff Ross Mellinger said.
According to the sheriff, the man told investigators that the victim stopped breathing and he dragged her to a wooded area near Kenna.
The woman was taken to CAMC General.
Mellinger said the suspect drove to a rural gas station, called 911 and said he thought he had just killed his girlfriend.
