WEATHERLY, Pa. — Drivers are making their way to Weatherly for the annual hill climb.

A Carbon County tradition since 1961, each year sees drivers take on the twists and turns of the one mile course on Hill Street.

"The Weatherly Hillclimb Association we put the event on and the course is unbelievable. The hill record is 47 seconds and some change, and let me tell you that is averaging 77 miles an hour," said Hillclimb president Joe Cyburt.

The hill climb revvs up Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., rain or shine. The event is free for spectators.

"Its like you're getting ready for two minutes of terror trying to not hit any trees, get to the top then you get to come back down and relax with your friends," said Greg Hagan of South Carolina.
