OLD TOWN -- Maine dairy experts celebrated the flourishing industry alongside Governor Janet Mills on Friday during a trip to the University of Maine's Witter Farm.

Governor Mills proclaimed June as Maine Dairy Month, saying she is "urging all citizens to support and appreciate Maine's dairy farmers and dairy products."

"Everyone's so enthusiastic, committed, they really care about what they're doing, so we're just thrilled. As the president, I couldn't be more proud than being able to help host something like this," said Joan Ferrini-Mundy, President of the University of Maine and UMaine at Machias.

Attendees were able to tour the campus farm, including their innovative robotic milking machine, which faculty say is kinder to the cows than traditional milking.
